What is amazee.io quest?

After three years of consecutive employment Amazees get three weeks off, paid, to free their mind and to fulfil a profound personal challenge, one which excites them, which pushes them, and which grows them as a person.

amazee.io Quest is not to be considered a standard sabbatical, but rather an opportunity to do something you see as a personal achievement, which you may not normally take the time to do. To be adventurous, create something amazing or do something life affirming.

While some people may choose to take this opportunity to leave home and travel, amazee.io Quest can involve challenges to be undertaken within one’s normal working hours, maintaining personal routine and commitments.

Quest Criteria

• Duration: Maximum of 3 weeks total (can be 3 weeks in one go, or 3 separate weeks spread out over a defined short term period. e.g. over the course of a Quarter)
• Eligibility:
  • 3+ years of consecutive employment (1 Quest every 3 years; not accumulable)
  • Should involve a profound, ambitious, and measurable personal challenge
• Approval:
  • Project subject must be approved by HR and the GM
  • Timeframe approved by your Lead and the GM
  • Proposal submitted at least 6 months in advance

How to get a Quest approved

1. Imagine your Quest Think big. What's something you'd love to accomplish in 3 weeks?
2. Set a Goal and proposed Date Define a clear and meaningful outcome for your Quest, a metric for what constitutes success, and when you want to undertake the Quest
3. Write Your Proposal Draft a short Google Doc explaining your idea. It doesn’t need to be perfect, or long (max of one page will do) just well considered—HR will help refine your idea if needed.
4. Share It Submit your proposal with the HR & Recruitment Manager and GM by sharing your proposal via Google Drive
5. Receive Feedback or Sign Off HR will come back to you after review with sign off or suggested tweaks. Your Lead will need to agree or coordinate the dates you’ll be off.
6. Book the time off in Bamboo and Jira (more on that at the end)
